Remember the Guy That Started the Flash Mob At Birkdale?

A few years back, I had the opportunity to meet an incredibly entertaining and talented local man — Terry Vaughn. I was freelancing for a now-defunct public relations firm and Terry was speaking with the owner about how to get greater awareness for his motivational/empowerment business. He had just filmed an episode of the Rachael Ray Show on a “Princess Survival” program he had for empowering young women and I was simply entranced with his exuberance for life, his experience in the Royal Marines, his loyalty to family and teaching his kids to embrace the outdoors (yes, they did have squirrel-on-the-grill sometimes)…and his smile.

Not long after helping him film a video for his website, I received a note from him, telling me that he was going to get a flash mob together to perform in Birkdale. He had the dance steps posted on youtube.com, got several dance studios and other organizations involved and the excitement for the event was so great that instead of people milling around and spontaneously dancing upon the first notes of BlackEyed Peas’ “I Got a Feeling”, a crowd formed in front of the theatre and waited anxiously for the song to start.

Birkdale, on that particular day, was packed and joyous. Terry filled the whole area with a sense of community.  What a thrill to be there to watch how one man got hundreds of people together to dance!

Well, now Terry is onto something new and different and I thought I’d share. He is competing on “Top Gun” on the History Channel.  Terry is one of those guys you just enjoy watching and how selfish of me if I would keep this news to myself:
