Got Time to Make History?

Latta Plantation was beautiful today, despite the high temperatures. When I stopped by, a solitary sheep was grazing on the front lawn of the historical house and a few visitors were milling about.  Nicole Cheslak, the Executive Director at Latta, took time to speak with me about her willingness to work with other organizations in marketing our area. The fact is, Nicole’s annual budget has been cut by about $20,000, and times are tough. She is dependent upon the few staffers and a number of dedicated volunteers to accomplish the summer camp and event successes that keep visitors coming. And she herself is working longer hours.

Nicole, and I, know that Latta is really not much different from the other businesses and destinations in our area. Things are tight. So why wouldn’t we figure out ways to work together?

Does your business have something to offer Latta campers?  Once they leave camp, can they come get a dollar off ice cream at your store? Whenever possible, Latta will steer out of town visitors to your establishment, sing the praises of your business.

Partnerships are simple.  It’s a good time to be creative — open your minds and let us see where we can go!

  1. Thanks for the wonderful plug in here, Jill!
I would love to work with area businesses to keep people in Huntersville for as long as possible when they leave our site. Whether it be from tours, camps, school programs, events, etc. We are constantly steering people to local restaurants, shopping areas, and more!
Recently, I had a family inquire about a week long camp and they would be coming from out of town. I contacted Comfort Suites about offering the family a special rate so they would stay in Huntersville instead of staying in Charlotte for the week. Little things like this will certainly help all of the restaurants benefit as well! Hopefully we can all find more ways to work together like this 🙂
