When my son was a toddler, he was one of those kids that seemed to have a constant ear infection. With the doctor’s advice, we tried everything to avoid surgery, which included trying a variety of different medications. That meant that I was a regular at the local Target pharmacy. The staff took the time to greet me, ask how the medications were working, ask about my son…and won me over as a customer. One day, after we’d beaten the ear infections, it had been several weeks since I’d been to the pharmacy and our home phone rang. It was Suzanne from the pharmacy: “Jill, we haven’t seen you for awhile and just wanted to make sure you were okay!”
The staff has turned over a bit since that time nearly seventeen years ago, and despite the number of drive-thru pharmacies that have been built during those years, I still park my car and walk into Target to get prescriptions filled. If they could make a small effort throughout the years to get to know me, I’ll make the small effort to show them it made a difference.
